Hyundai Kona Electric prices slashed by $13,000

New Drive-Away Deals for Hyundai Kona Lineup

Exciting new drive-away deals have been introduced for the popular Hyundai Kona lineup, featuring discounts of over $13,000 for the all-electric versions of the compact SUV.

Hyundai Australia is offering national drive-away pricing for the first quarter of 2026 on entry-level models of the Kona and Kona Hybrid, along with significant discounts on the Kona Electric range.

The Kona Electric Standard Range now starts at $45,990 drive-away, providing a substantial savings of $13,157 based on a NSW postcode. Meanwhile, the Kona HEV is available from $39,990 drive-away, narrowing the price gap between hybrid and electric power to just $6000.

Previously positioned in a higher price bracket, the Kona Electric now competes more closely with more affordable Chinese rivals like the Geely EX5 and the MG S5 EV.

For those looking for an electric SUV, BYD’s Atto 2 offers a similarly sized option starting at just $31,990 plus on-road costs or approximately $34,770 drive-away based on a NSW postcode.

The Kona Electric Extended Range, now priced at $49,990 drive-away after a $13,357 discount, provides an impressive range of up to 505km according to WLTP certification. The range-topping Premium variant has also received a significant price reduction, now available at $59,990 drive-away, saving buyers $13,857.

Both the Extended Range and Premium models can be equipped with the sporty N Line Package for an additional cost.

At the lower end of the range, the entry-level Kona 2.0L petrol model has been discounted to $36,490 drive-away, with a slight price increase expected in February and March.

In 2025, the Hyundai Kona achieved impressive sales numbers, becoming Australia’s best-selling small SUV. However, the electric Kona accounted for a small percentage of those sales, leading Hyundai to adjust pricing to attract more buyers.

Similar pricing adjustments have been made to entry-level versions of Hyundai’s Inster baby EV, now starting at $35,990 drive-away nationwide.
