Introducing the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ: A Tough Off-Road Family SUV

Toyota has recently unveiled its newest addition to the off-road family SUV lineup, the Land Cruiser FJ. This compact SUV is built on the same IMV platform as the current Hilux, with various elements that make it as rugged as the renowned 70 series.

The Land Cruiser FJ is eleven inches shorter than its predecessors, with a longer wheelbase of approximately 101 inches. It measures 180.1 inches in length and 77.2 inches in width. Standing at about six feet tall, the SUV’s ground clearance has not been specified by Toyota yet.

Powering the new Land Cruiser FJ is a 2.7-liter inline-four engine that delivers 161 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, and four-wheel drive capability is available.

Inside the cabin, the FJ shares similarities with the larger Land Cruiser 250 series. It features a 12.5-inch infotainment touchscreen with physical buttons and switches for easy control.

To enhance durability, Toyota has reinforced the floor of the FJ and equipped it with removable front and rear bumper covers for easier repairs. While the SUV is not slated for release in Europe or America, it will be available in select global markets.

The new Land Cruiser FJ is set to hit the markets in Japan and the Middle East next year, with a debut at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo. Toyota has hinted at introducing additional variants of the Land Cruiser in the future.
