iPhone 20: Buttonless Design and Enhanced Camera Technology
Summarizing the Latest iPhone Rumors
- Rumors of a 20th-anniversary model resurface
- iPhone 20 rumored to eliminate mechanical buttons
- New LOFIC camera sensor also rumored
Just over a month after the release of the iPhone 17, speculations about the iPhone 20 are already circulating.
Not the iPhone 18, which is expected to launch in late 2026. The focus is on Apple’s potential 2027 smartphone release, rumored to commemorate the iPhone’s 20th anniversary by skipping the iPhone 19.
This strategy mirrors Apple’s approach with the iPhone X in 2017, marking the tenth anniversary alongside the iPhone 8 launch.
Apple seems to have something extraordinary planned for this occasion, hinting at a significant redesign. Here’s what’s being discussed.
Revolutionary Buttonless Design for iPhone 20
In recent years, Apple has been incorporating physical buttons into its iPhones, such as the Action Button and Camera Control.
Contrary to ongoing speculations about eliminating mechanical buttons, leaker Momentary Digital suggests that Apple will reserve this innovation for the 20th-anniversary model.
According to their Weibo post (translated via machine), the iPhone 20 scheduled for 2027 production will feature solid-state buttons with haptic feedback, simulating button presses without physical movement.
The power button, volume controls, Action Button, and Camera Control will all be integrated as solid-state buttons.

Enhanced Camera Technology for iPhone 20
Modern iPhones are renowned for their camera capabilities, and the iPhone 20 is expected to introduce a significant camera upgrade.
Sources from Korea suggest that the Pro model may feature a Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor (LOFIC) camera sensor, enhancing light intake for improved dynamic range.
While Huawei has already implemented a LOFIC sensor in its Pura 80 Ultra phone, other flagship competitors, including Apple, are likely to follow suit in the coming years.
