Don't worry, Legend of Zelda fans, Nintendo has said that the live-action movie is five years away tops, which is plenty of time to make it an animated movie instead

The Legend of Zelda Live-Action Movie: What We Know So Far

Nintendo fans have been eagerly awaiting news about the live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda series. While there is still no official release date, Nintendo has provided some insight into when we can expect to see this highly anticipated movie.

Almost a year ago, Nintendo announced that a film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda was in the works. The news that Sony would be producing the movie came as no surprise, but the decision to make it a live-action film raised some eyebrows. Since then, details about the project have been scarce, with no updates on a release date. However, during Nintendo’s Corporate Management Policy Briefing, a rough estimate was given: 202X.

While the release window of 202X is still quite broad, speculation suggests that the movie may not hit theaters until 2027. This extended timeline leaves room for potential changes, such as shifting from live-action to animation, a move that many fans would welcome. Director Wes Ball’s rumored “grounded” approach could be reevaluated in light of this flexibility.

In addition to the movie news, Nintendo confirmed that an announcement regarding the Switch 2 (or its equivalent) is expected before the end of the fiscal year. However, one analyst predicts that the reveal may be delayed until 2025. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the new console, Nintendo has assured fans that the Switch 2 will support backwards compatibility, alleviating concerns about game compatibility.
