Maximize Your AirTag’s Battery Life with this Waterproof Case for Five Years
The latest iteration of the Time Capsule, like its predecessor, ditches the CR2032 coin cell battery in favor of an electrical contact that draws power from AAA batteries. For optimal performance and longevity, Apple recommends using Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAAs to prevent corrosive leaks, especially considering the device may remain untouched for up to five years.
The compact version of the Time Capsule maintains the original’s rugged IP69 rating, safeguarding it against water and dust infiltration. Crafted from the same durable fiber-reinforced polycarbonate, the casing ensures that Bluetooth and UWB signals remain unaffected. However, the inclusion of AAA batteries does add some weight, with the device weighing 1.9 ounces compared to the AirTag’s 0.39 ounces. Additionally, locating the tracker by sound may prove slightly challenging, as the audible alerts are dampened by approximately one-third.
