Mirror Security, a cybersecurity company born out of University College Dublin, has secured €2.1 million ($2.5 million) in pre-Seed funding to expand its encryption platform for AI Security.

This investment round was spearheaded by Sure Valley Ventures (SVV) and Atlantic Bridge, with backing from key angel investors.

Pankaj Thapa, the co-founder and CEO of Mirror Security, emphasizes the critical importance of securing data flows in the era of AI innovation. Their platform, VectaX, replaces traditional trust mechanisms with cryptographic verification to ensure data remains protected even during computational processes. Thapa states, “Our goal goes beyond data protection – we are establishing a trust foundation for the AI-driven economy.”

In 2025, various European companies focusing on cryptography and AI-security also received significant funding, underscoring the industry’s growth potential.

Austria’s Quantum Industries raised €9.5 million to enhance quantum-secure communications for vital infrastructure, demonstrating ongoing investor interest in cutting-edge data protection solutions. Meanwhile, in France, Zama secured €49 million to expand fully homomorphic encryption for secure smart-contract execution, showcasing confidence in encrypted-compute technologies. Additionally, Zaiffer in Paris raised €2 million to develop a confidential-token protocol using FHE for regulated digital-asset environments.

Collectively, these companies attracted over €60 million in funding in 2025, highlighting the increasing momentum behind cryptography-centric infrastructure.

Mirror Security’s emphasis on encrypted AI computation aligns with Europe’s broader shift towards privacy-preserving systems, particularly given the company’s Irish roots amidst regional activity in security and encryption technologies.

Thapa further states, “Just as the internet necessitated secure foundations for scalability, AI now requires a new security paradigm. Mirror Security is at the forefront of shaping this paradigm, enabling enterprises and governments to innovate securely, safeguarding their data, strategies, and sovereignty. We believe this is pivotal for AI’s growth in the coming decade.”

Established in 2024 by Pankaj Thapa and Dr. Aditya Narayana K, Mirror integrates top-tier academic research with enterprise-level execution.

Their comprehensive “Security of AI” platform offers a protection suite featuring:

  • AgentIQ: comprehensive agentic security for diverse AI applications.
  • DiscoveR: automated red teaming for continuous AI system fortification.
  • VectaX: a fully homomorphic encryption engine optimized for AI workloads.

Mirror aims to tackle a pressing issue in enterprise AI adoption – the lack of reliable data confidentiality during model training and inference processes.

As organizations integrate AI into their workflows, the risk of exposing sensitive data during AI operations has escalated. Mirror’s Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) technology, VectaX, allows AI systems to process confidential data while keeping it entirely encrypted.

Barry Downes, Managing Partner at Sure Valley Ventures, praises Mirror Security for constructing the encryption framework for AI, setting a new standard in data protection within the AI ecosystem. The technology enables secure processing of encrypted data, laying the groundwork for the next generation of enterprise AI.

The company also announces a strategic agreement worth millions with Inception AI, a G42 company renowned for innovative agentic AI solutions.

Through this collaboration, Mirror will deploy its full AI security suite across Inception’s enterprise and government networks, facilitating secure and scalable AI implementation globally. Mirror has also forged strategic partnerships with Intel, MongoDB, Qdrant, SiSys AI, and Accops.

Weili Wang, an Investor at Atlantic Bridge, underscores the significance of data security in AI adoption, highlighting Mirror Security’s unique FHE technology as a solution for secure AI deployment without compromises. The partnership aims to support this mission through a global network of cybersecurity and AI experts.

The funding will drive the expansion of engineering and AI security teams in Ireland, the US, and India, accelerate product development in encrypted inferencing and secure fine-tuning, and facilitate immediate entry into US enterprise markets.
