Skate Story: A Surreal Skateboarding Adventure

Have you ever imagined a world where Tony Hawk’s soul ventures into a realm of nightmare surrealism, craving for more than just skate tricks? Developer Sam Eng brings this concept to life in Skate Story, set to release on December 8th, 2025.

The game’s Steam Next Fest demo, released early by Eng, provides a glimpse into the unique experience awaiting players. Through nine chapters, players will explore a world where skateboarding meets surrealism in a mesmerizing blend of gameplay.

In the demo, players can embark on a skateboarding journey unlike any other, encountering strange obstacles and surreal landscapes. From dispelling smiling block’s manhole guffs to gliding through space to kickflip at a celestial body, Skate Story offers a truly immersive experience.

One of the standout features of Skate Story is its soundtrack, reminiscent of Disco Elysium’s chill Sea Power symphony. The music, curated by artist Blood Cultures, adds a unique dimension to the gameplay, setting it apart from traditional skateboarding games.

According to Eng, Skate Story is based on a true story, albeit with some dramatization for effect. The game offers a fresh take on the skateboarding genre, blending surrealism with traditional gameplay elements to create a truly unique experience.

Skate Story’s demo is available on its Steam page, allowing players to get a taste of the surreal world awaiting them. With its December release date approaching, players can wishlist the game and prepare for an unforgettable skateboarding adventure.
