NanoXplore secures €20 million funding to bolster defence capabilities and enhance Europe’s electronic autonomy
NanoXplore Secures €20 Million in Funding to Expand into Defence Sector
NanoXplore, a renowned French fabless company, has successfully raised €20 million in funding to accelerate its entry into the defence sector. The funding aims to support the development of security-focused products and to facilitate strategic external growth initiatives across Europe.
The financing round was led by European defence company MBDA and the Defence Innovation Fund managed by Bpifrance.
CEO of NanoXplore, Édouard Lepape, expressed the company’s vision stating, “Our ambition is clear: to make NanoXplore the reference player for European electronic sovereignty.”
Established in 2013, NanoXplore specializes in producing radiation-hardened components, particularly FPGAs, which are capable of operating in extreme environments such as space and defence systems.
The company recently introduced NG-ULTRA, touted as the world’s most advanced rad-hard SoC FPGA.
NanoXplore emphasizes European electronic sovereignty by maintaining a 100% European supply chain, earning the “ITAR-free” label, which exempts its products from US defence export regulations.
Notably, NanoXplore’s circuits are integrated into prominent space programs like Galileo and Copernicus missions, offering a European alternative to non-European components.
The investment from MBDA and Bpifrance aligns with the Defence Innovation Fund’s strategy of supporting innovative French SMEs critical to national sovereignty.
With the fresh capital infusion, NanoXplore plans to diversify into the defence sector by developing specialized components and expanding its presence in Europe through strategic acquisitions.
The funding will also facilitate the development of new technologies tailored for land, air, and naval systems, reinforcing Europe’s industrial base in critical microelectronics.
