NATO says iPhones are secure enough to handle classified data

NATO-Approved Devices for Handling Classified Information

The NATO-restricted designation, the lowest level of classified information, pertains to data that could be detrimental to NATO’s interests if exposed. As outlined in a security document released by the Marines, BlackBerry 10 phones received authorization to store such classified information in 2013.

Recently, the BSI has granted approval for the utilization of Apple devices running iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 within all NATO member countries.
