Nubia Foldable: The Next Contender in the Foldable Phone Market
Summarizing the Nubia Fold
- Nubia Fold makes its debut in Japan
- Offers performance similar to Galaxy Z Fold 7
- Priced at less than £1,000
An enticing and affordable alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has emerged in the form of the Nubia Fold.
Recently listed on the website of Japanese mobile operator Y!mobile, the Nubia Fold provides a glimpse into what future foldable phones, possibly including the Galaxy Z Fold series, could offer.
The Nubia Fold boasts impressive specifications, such as a massive 6,560mAh battery – a significant upgrade from the 4,400mAh battery in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. It also features 55W fast charging.
The device sports an 8-inch 120Hz external display with a resolution of 2,480 x 2,200, surpassing the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s 2184 x 1968 resolution.
Additionally, it comes with a 6.5-inch cover display with a resolution of 2,748 x 1,172, outperforming the Fold 7’s 2520 x 1080 pixel count.
Specifications of the Nubia Fold
Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and 12GB of RAM, the Nubia Fold promises strong performance similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
However, the Nubia Fold falls short in terms of design compared to the sleek Galaxy Z Fold 7. Its dimensions of 160 x 144 x 5.4mm make it thicker than the Samsung phone, and its 11.2mm thickness when closed may pose challenges for everyday use.

With a weight of 249g, the Nubia Fold is heavier than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (215g). It holds an IP54 rating, offering better dust resistance compared to the IP48-rated Fold 7 but less water resistance.
The Nubia Fold is equipped with a 50Mp main sensor, a 50Mp ultra-wide lens, and a 5Mp macro lens, along with dual 20Mp selfie cameras.
Pricing of the Nubia Fold
Priced at ¥178,560 (approximately £864), the Nubia Fold provides a cost-effective alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, which retails for £1,799. It may also compete with the rumored Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 FE.
Nubia has a history of offering flagship-level performance at competitive prices, as seen with the Nubia Z80 Ultra.
The Nubia Fold is currently available in Japan and is expected to launch in more markets in 2026. While a UK and European release is uncertain, it remains a possibility.
