Porsche's K1 flagship SUV will not be electric

Porsche’s New Flagship Luxury SUV: The K1

Porsche is set to launch a new flagship luxury SUV to compete with the likes of the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS. Codenamed K1, this model was initially rumored to be an all-electric vehicle. However, recent reports suggest otherwise.

The Porsche K1 SUV will be built on the VW Group’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture. Instead of being solely electric, it will offer V6 and V8 powertrain options, catering to a wider range of customers.

The decision to switch to the PPC platform was influenced by the delay in the development of VW’s Scalable Systems Platform, which was initially planned for the K1. Additionally, there is a growing demand for traditional powertrains over electric vehicles.

Prior to the launch of the K1, Porsche will introduce the Audi Q9, which will share the same architecture and offer both petrol and plug-in hybrid options. This move is aimed at catering to diverse preferences in the luxury SUV segment.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Porsche K1 SUV as it gears up to rival its competitors in the luxury SUV market.
