Resident Evil Requiem: Leon’s Return
Leon Kennedy Rumored to Appear in Resident Evil Requiem
Speculations about the inclusion of Leon Kennedy in the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem have been circulating online, with recent evidence from the PlayStation Store seemingly confirming this through a pre-order icon. AestheticGamer1, a Twitter user, noticed the image and mentioned, “If you have the standard non-Deluxe Edition of RE9 on PS5, you can see this cover if you try to schedule pre-loading.”
Resident Evil Requiem centers around Grace Ashcroft, who is drawn back to Raccoon City, thirty years after its devastation in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. As an FBI technical analyst, she investigates strange deaths at the Renwood Hotel, the same location where her mother was murdered eight years earlier.
The game’s director, Koshi Nakanishi, has emphasized the theme of addictive fear in the game. He also highlighted the character development of the new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, who must confront her fears, utilize her training to handle firearms, and apply fast deduction skills.
While Leon was initially considered for the lead role, he was ultimately not chosen. According to Nakanishi-san, “We always thought about making Leon the protagonist. But making a horror game based around him is difficult. He wouldn’t jump at something like a bucket falling. No one wants to see Leon scared by every little thing, so he’s actually quite a bad match for horror.”
Given this insight, it is speculated that Leon may appear in Resident Evil Requiem as a non-playable character, possibly assisting or hindering Grace in her journey. Additionally, three Resident Evil games, including Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Biohazard, and Resident Evil 8, Resident Evil Village, are set to launch on Nintendo Switch simultaneously with Resident Evil Requiem.
