2026 BMW IX3 WITH GLOBAL PLAYER APP 1

Introducing Global Player: The Latest In-Car App from BMW Group UK

For those feeling overwhelmed by the multitude of in-car apps available, BMW Group UK has introduced Global Player to add to the list. This app offers a wide range of digital radio stations, playlists, and podcasts, enhancing the ConnectedDrive Store’s existing selection of over 60 third-party apps.

Global Player is easily downloadable directly from the infotainment system’s app store, eliminating the need for a smartphone. Compatible with all BMW and MINI vehicles running the previous-generation infotainment system, over 180,000 vehicles with Operating System 9 can already enjoy this new app, with BMW expecting this number to exceed 300,000 by the end of the year, including the 2026 iX3 models.

Looking ahead, all Neue Klasse models will support Global Player, with the upcoming i3 sedan and iX4 joining the second-generation iX3 in 2026. Not limited to EVs, Neue Klasse will encompass essentially all new BMW models, such as the next 3 Series and X5, set to adopt iDrive X later this year. The upcoming 7 Series facelift will also become part of the expanded Neue Klasse family.

Global Player goes beyond live radio streaming, allowing users to rewind and pause audio and video shows, browse podcasts, and curated playlists directly from the center display. The new iX3 features the largest touchscreen ever in a BMW Group vehicle, measuring an impressive 17.9 inches. Access to content requires a BMW Digital Premium or MINI Connected Package subscription.

Similar to other streaming apps, Global Player offers seamless device switching, enabling users to start a podcast in the car and continue at home, seamlessly picking up where they left off. As vehicles evolve into rolling smartphones, the growing selection of in-car apps showcases this trend. BMW’s iDrive X is the brand’s most advanced infotainment system, allowing users to play games on the large touchscreen and even using a smartphone as a controller, available on iDrive 9 for added entertainment.
