Revolutionizing Hospitality: Mews Invests €255 Million in Automation and Payments
Amsterdam-based Mews, a leading operating system for the hospitality industry, has recently secured a substantial €255 million ($300 million) in a Series D funding round. The primary goal of this funding is to enhance the platform’s capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI), integrate agent-driven systems to automate complex workflows, reduce cognitive load for staff, enhance the guest experience, and expedite product development and deployment.
The funding round was spearheaded by EQT Growth, with new investors Atomico and HarbourVest Partners, alongside existing investors Kinnevik, Battery Ventures, and Tiger Global, valuing Mews at an impressive €2.1 billion ($2.5 billion).
Matt Welle, the CEO of Mews, expressed his enthusiasm about the new investors, stating that it will allow the company to outpace competitors in the industry. He emphasized Mews’ mission to revolutionize how hoteliers interact with guests by streamlining operational complexities and enabling hoteliers to focus on delivering exceptional hospitality experiences.
In the realm of European hospitality and HotelTech funding, Mews’ Series D funding round stands out as one of the largest software raises, amounting to €255 million. This underscores the growing investor interest in operational and management technology for hotels. Other notable funding rounds in the sector include Amenitiz in Spain, which raised €38.9 million, and Room00 Group, which secured a €400 million investment to expand its tech-enabled hotel portfolio across Europe.
The cumulative investment in European hospitality and HotelTech models in 2025/2026 amounts to approximately €695 million, with Mews’ funding accounting for a significant portion of this total. Additionally, in March 2024, Mews raised €101 million to support hoteliers in adopting cloud technology.
Richard Valtr, the Founder of Mews, emphasized the importance of creating memorable guest experiences in the hospitality industry. He highlighted Mews’ progress in AI and agentic hospitality, positioning the company as a leader in the industry’s technological advancements.
Established in 2012, Mews serves as an operating system for hospitality, integrating workflows across revenue, operations, and the guest journey to automate tasks and enhance guest experiences. The platform caters to 15,000 customers across 85 countries, offering solutions for property management and profit management in the hotel industry.
The recent funding round follows a year of significant growth for Mews, with a 55% increase in SaaS gross profit. In 2025, the company achieved impressive milestones, including 42.3 million checked-in reservations, Platform Transaction Volumes of €16.7 billion, and accelerated SaaS gross profit growth of 55%.
The funding will enable Mews to further invest in AI and agent-driven systems to automate workflows, enhance guest experiences, and streamline product development. The platform aims to orchestrate operations in real time, optimize revenue and profit, scale business without legacy tech constraints, and simplify workflows for efficient team onboarding.
Kirk Lepke, Partner at EQT Growth, commended Mews for its innovative approach to modernizing hospitality operations. He highlighted the company’s role in addressing the industry’s technological fragmentation through its AI-enabled operating system.
Mews’ expansion plans include enhancing Mews Payments and its FinTech infrastructure, integrating commerce into hotel operations, and bridging the gap between guest experiences and revenue. The recent funding round follows Mews’ acquisition of DataChat, a generative AI analytics platform.
