Streamlining Global Procurement with Generative AI: The Didero Story

Tim Spencer’s journey with manufacturing procurement complexities began during his time at Markai, an e-commerce startup in Asia, amidst the pandemic. Managing thousands of suppliers across multiple countries, Spencer realized the overwhelming manual tasks involved in sourcing, negotiating, tracking orders, and managing payments.

Recognizing the need for a solution, Spencer sold Markai and co-founded Didero in 2023, alongside Lorenz Pallhuber and Tom Petit. Their vision was to automate the intricate processes of global procurement, leading to a recent successful $30 million Series A funding round co-led by Chemistry and Headline, with Microsoft’s venture fund M12 participating.

Spencer emphasized the importance of natural language communication in global trade, which includes emails, phone calls, and purchase orders. Didero’s generative AI platform aims to streamline these fragmented pieces, reducing manual intervention and putting a significant portion of the procurement workflow on autopilot.

Upcoming Event: Techcrunch in Boston, MA on June 23, 2026

Didero acts as an agentic AI layer that integrates with a company’s existing ERP system, coordinating incoming communications and executing necessary updates autonomously. The goal is to facilitate seamless procurement processes from initial request to final payment, without human intervention.

Unlike its competitors, Didero focuses specifically on the supply chain, catering to manufacturers and distributors sourcing raw materials and inputs for their products. While other platforms may assist with purchasing, Didero’s specialization lies in the end-to-end procurement process.

Although Didero faces competition from companies like Cavela and Pietra, which assist in sourcing and pricing negotiations, Spencer notes that these competitors primarily target small to medium-sized businesses and lack the comprehensive procurement capabilities offered by Didero.
