Lenovo Unveils ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept Laptop at CES 2026

Lenovo is making waves at CES 2026 with the introduction of their latest concept laptop, the ThinkPad Rollable XD. This innovative device features a flexible OLED display that wraps around the outer part of its lid, allowing users to vertically expand the screen from 13.3 inches to 15.9 inches with a simple finger slide. The ThinkPad Rollable XD retains the iconic red TrackPoint nub of the traditional ThinkPad design, while offering increased screen real estate for enhanced productivity.

Unique Design Features

By incorporating the screen into the lid, the ThinkPad XD provides users with exterior-facing workspace when closed. Touch-friendly widgets can be displayed on the lid, and a simple knock extends the display slightly to facilitate opening. The Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 covering the outward-facing touchscreen ensures durability, while the see-through portion of the lid showcases the mechanics of the rollable screen.

Innovative Technology

The interactive nature of the XD concept’s screen allows users to witness the inner motors and pulleys at work, transforming the laptop’s shape with each expansion and contraction. Lenovo’s commitment to transparency is evident in the inclusion of see-through components, providing a unique and engaging user experience.

Future Possibilities

Lenovo’s exploration of shapeshifting screens extends beyond the XD concept, with previous concepts like the ThinkBook Flip and VertiFlex offering alternative approaches to flexible displays. The potential for more affordable options in this space is promising, as Lenovo continues to push the boundaries of innovation and design.
