Revolutionizing the Cabin: A Sneak Peek at the 2028 BMW iX1 Interior

BMW is always buzzing with activity, whether it’s working on updating existing models or developing new ones. The latest buzz is around the iX1, BMW’s smallest crossover, which seems to be skipping the usual Life Cycle Impulse and heading straight to the next generation.

Recent spy shots of the iX1 prototype reveal a completely redesigned interior, borrowing elements from the larger iX3. The centerpiece of the dashboard is a tablet-style center touchscreen, possibly similar in size to the iX3’s 17.9-inch display. The digital instrument cluster is no longer present, with a potential optional 3D head-up display hidden from view.

One standout feature of the new iX1 is the Panoramic Vision technology, which offers a pillar-to-pillar projection in the driver’s line of sight. The layout of physical controls, borrowed from the iX3, includes a small gear selector and a traditional center console.

Despite the prototype’s appearance, the final production model is likely to feature higher-quality materials and revamped areas like the door cards and passenger-side dashboard. An interior camera hints at potential features like the City Assistant functionality from the iX3.

The new iX1 is not expected to hit production until late 2027, with improvements in electric motor technology and battery performance. The transition to BMW Group’s Gen6 electric motors and batteries promises enhanced range and charging capabilities compared to the current model.

The current iX1 offers a range of up to 473 kilometers on a single charge, with the replacement model expected to surpass this with improved battery technology. The new iX1 will also switch to a rear-wheel-drive layout, enhancing performance and efficiency.

With around 40 new models set to launch by late 2027, including the all-new iX1 and facelifted X1, BMW is gearing up for an exciting future in electric mobility.
