A recent investigation by Android Authority has revealed code in the Galaxy Ring Manager app hinting at a “Ring gesture for glasses”.

Samsung’s announcement of the Galaxy XR headset, powered by Google’s Android XR mixed reality platform, adds weight to the speculation.

Although details are scarce, the mention suggests that users may soon be able to control the Galaxy XR headset with gestures using the Samsung Galaxy Ring.

Samsung’s expansion of the smart ring’s capabilities comes at a crucial time as new competition emerges in the form of Sandbar’s Stream smart ring.

Developed by former Meta employees, Sandbar’s Stream is being hailed as a voice-controlled interface similar to a mouse, offering various functionalities such as memo recording, chat bot interaction, and music playback control.

The Soundbar Stream is currently available for pre-order in matte silver or polished gold at $249, with a Pro subscription costing $10 per month after an initial three-month free trial period. Limited quantities are expected to ship in Summer 2026.
