New CEO Appointed at Mercedes-AMG

Mercedes-AMG has announced the appointment of Dr. Stefan Weckbach as its new CEO, effective from July 1, 2026. Weckbach will be taking over from Michael Scheibe, who will be transitioning to the role of Member of the Board of Management for Production, Quality & Supply Chain Management.

Responsibilities and Role

As the new Chairman of the Management Board, Weckbach will also oversee the Top End Vehicle Group, which includes iconic models like Maybach and G-Class.

Background and Experience

Stefan Weckbach, a former Porsche executive, joined the brand in 2008 and has been instrumental in the development of various models such as the Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne, and the Taycan EV. In 2022, he took on the leadership of the Mission X project, the successor to the legendary 918 Spyder hypercar.

Jörg Burzer, a Member of the Board of Management at Mercedes-Benz Group AG, praised Weckbach for his extensive product knowledge, strategic capabilities, and experience in the performance and luxury segments. Burzer highlighted Weckbach’s track record in advancing corporate and product projects and driving complex vehicle programs, making him the ideal choice for the CEO position at Mercedes-AMG.
