Bojack-style band management sim Rockbeasts gets a fresh trailer which asks existential questions I was afraid to

Exploring Rockbeasts: A Unique Zoological Band Management Game

Reflecting on my experience playing a preview build of Rockbeasts earlier this year, I realize now that I may have been too quick to accept the fantastical premise of the game. Rockbeasts is a game where animals have become musicians, playing Black Sabbath riffs with opposable thumbs, and where a bulldog version of Simon Cowell may have hidden motives.

Fortunately, a new trailer for Rockbeasts was unveiled at the Galaxies showcase, raising some of the questions I failed to ask during my initial playthrough. This Bojack Horseman-inspired game follows the journey of a band known as Pearl Spam, as they attempt to reach their gig on time, complete with their signature silly hats.

Admittedly, I initially overlooked the furry aspect of the game, fearing repercussions from their mysterious security services. However, as I watched the trailer, I was intrigued by the new content and scenes that were not part of the preview build I had experienced. I have yet to choose a guitar color or encounter the llama version of Lemmy from Motorhead, but I did meet a charismatic cat character who sings in the game.

Upon reflection, Rockbeasts shows promise, hinting at a narrative that spans decades, from guiding the band to fame in the 90s to their present-day adventures. To truly succeed, Rockbeasts must prove itself as more than just a tribute band.

Although Rockbeasts currently lacks a release date, interested players can wishlist the game on Steam for future updates.
