Samsung Galaxy Phones Expected to See Price Increase

Following the introduction of the new Galaxy S26 lineup with higher prices compared to the previous S25 series, Samsung is now preparing to increase the prices of other Galaxy smartphones.

Reportedly, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy S25 Edge are all slated to see price hikes in South Korea starting today. The 512GB models of these phones will see a rise of KRW 100,000 (£50/$66), while the 1TB models will increase by KRW 200,000 (£100/$133).

While it is unclear if these price increases will extend to other regions outside Korea, it would not be unexpected considering the earlier rumors that the higher pricing of the Galaxy S26 range would eventually be reflected globally.

The initial price of the S26 now stands at £899/$899, £40/$40 more than what the equivalent 256GB Samsung Galaxy S25 was priced at launch. Additionally, the mid-range Galaxy A57 has also seen a price hike to £529/$549, with only the Galaxy A37 avoiding an increase.

Not the first, probably not the last

This situation, while unfortunate, is not unprecedented as economic instability and rising living costs have led to price increases for various devices over recent years.

Recently, Sony announced yet another price increase for the PS5, a trend seen multiple times since the console’s release in 2020. Oppo and OnePlus have also implemented price hikes on their existing handsets.

The ongoing shortage of RAM due to increased AI investment is the primary reason behind these price adjustments, and it is anticipated that other companies will follow Samsung’s lead in the upcoming months or seek ways to offset these expenses.

The new Pixel 10a handset appears to be a product of the current economic climate, featuring minimal changes from the Pixel 9a, notably retaining the same Tensor G4 chipset. Despite this, it is one of the few phones in 2026 to maintain its price point.

A similar strategy is evident with the new MacBook Neo, which utilizes the existing A18 Pro iPhone chipset for easier production, allowing the brand to offer the laptop at a lower price during a time when affordability is crucial.
