Team Cherry Announces Exciting Updates for Hollow Knight Fans

As 2025 comes to a close, Team Cherry has delighted fans with a major announcement regarding the highly anticipated release of Hollow Knight: Silksong. Not only will players get to enjoy the long-awaited game this year, but they can also look forward to a new expansion titled Hollow Knight: Silksong – Sea of Sorrow, which will be offered as free DLC.

In addition to this exciting news, Team Cherry has revealed plans for a Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade for the original Hollow Knight, with enhancements that will benefit players across all platforms.

With over 7 million purchases of Hollow Knight: Silksong and a strong presence on Game Pass, Team Cherry expresses their gratitude to the dedicated players who have explored the game’s challenging landscapes.

Team Cherry acknowledges the overwhelming support from the community and the creativity showcased through fan art, mods, and gameplay strategies. The team’s motivation to expand the game further is fueled by the players’ enthusiasm.

The upcoming Sea of Sorrow expansion will continue Hornet’s journey in a new maritime-themed setting, offering players new areas, bosses, tools, and more to enhance their gaming experience.

Furthermore, an updated version of Hollow Knight for the Nintendo Switch 2 is in the works for a 2026 release. This update will deliver improved performance with high frame-rate modes, higher resolutions, and additional graphical effects that were not present in the original Switch release.

All platforms will receive updates to introduce new features and address any existing bugs. PC players can already test these updates through a public beta branch on Steam and GOG, which includes support for various aspect ratios and a range of fixes and enhancements.
