Siri Struggles: Apple’s Roadblocks with Voice Assistant Redesign
Apple Delays Major Siri Updates to iOS 26.5 and iOS 27
According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple has decided to postpone the introduction of significant changes to Siri originally planned for iOS 26.4. These changes will now be rolled out in later versions of the iOS operating system, including iOS 26.5 and iOS 27.
Apple’s Delayed Features for Siri
Nearly a year ago, Apple had postponed the release of features for Siri that would enable it to understand personal context and take actions based on the user’s screen content. Originally intended for iOS 26.4, these features faced setbacks during testing, as reported by Bloomberg. Apple has instructed engineers to conduct testing with iOS 26.5, expected to launch in May, instead.
New Features Being Tested for iOS 26.5
In addition to the delayed Siri updates, Apple is also experimenting with a web search tool similar to Perplexity and custom image generation for iOS 26.5. These features were initially tested with iOS 26.4, as mentioned by Bloomberg.
