2027 Skoda Peaq: Upcoming flagship EV named

Skoda is set to launch the 2027 Skoda Peaq later this year, positioning it as the brand’s new flagship and the largest Skoda model to date. This all-electric seven-seat SUV will be built on the MEB dedicated electric vehicle architecture, drawing inspiration from the 2022 Vision 7S concept.

The Skoda Peaq is designed to be a direct electric alternative to the Kodiaq, following in the footsteps of the Elroq and Karoq. The name “Peaq” symbolizes the model’s peak status in the Skoda lineup, with the moniker derived from the English word ‘peak’ and continuing the tradition of SUV names ending with the letter ‘Q’.

Recently teased images of the Peaq’s front and rear lighting signatures stay true to the Vision 7S design study, hinting at a sleek and modern aesthetic. Skoda plans to unveil the Peaq after the smaller Epiq electric SUV, with a world debut scheduled for 2026.

CEO Klaus Zellmer expressed excitement about the brand’s upcoming EV lineup, which will offer a wide range of electrification options alongside efficient combustion models and hybrid variants. Skoda Australia is eagerly anticipating the arrival of the new EV models, including mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains set to debut this year.

The Octavia liftback and wagon, as well as the Kodiaq SUV, will receive the 1.5 eTSI mHEV powertrain, delivering similar power output to the outgoing turbo-petrol engine but with significantly improved fuel efficiency. The Kodiaq mHEV Select will offer both five-seat and seven-seat configurations, catering to a range of preferences.

In addition to the mild-hybrid models, Skoda Australia will introduce its first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models in the Kodiaq and Superb. These models will feature the VW Group’s 1.5L turbocharged PHEV system with a 150kW output, offering over 100km of EV driving range thanks to a large battery pack.
