Yes I know Christmas was a month ago but SantaCorps 4 perfectly captures Sega Dreamcast era Sonic so play it anyway

SantaCorps 4: A Festive Adventure Game Review

The team at Sega has truly honed their skills when it comes to creating Sonic games. While they may not all be perfect masterpieces, they have certainly mastered the art of producing competent and mostly glitch-free games. Gone are the days of uncontrollable chaos in Sonic Adventure 2; instead, we now see a more polished approach. However, if you’re craving that same unruly spirit of Sega’s early 3D games, look no further than SantaCorps 4.

Before we dive into the review, it’s worth noting that SantaCorps 4 is not part of a series of games you may have missed. While there is another game called SantaCorps: Snow Patrol with a Bomberman-esque arcade style, SantaCorps 4 stands on its own. In this game, you step into the boots of a SantaCorps member tasked with saving Christmas, as the jolly old man himself, Kris Kringle, is in need of assistance.

In SantaCorps 4, your primary objective is to accumulate points as you progress through each level. This is achieved by dashing around at lightning speeds, collecting stars like Sonic collecting rings, delivering presents down chimneys, and lighting up Christmas trees. The gameplay is fast-paced and exhilarating, although at times it may feel a bit too chaotic. Additionally, the lack of camera control adds an extra layer of challenge to the experience. Despite these quirks, the game remains lighthearted and enjoyable, with no pressure to perform perfectly, just a gentle nudge towards maximum speed.

One of the standout features of SantaCorps 4 is its affordability. Priced similarly to a fancy coffee, this game offers hours of silly, high-speed entertainment. Whether it’s the holiday season or not, SantaCorps 4 is sure to bring a smile to your face. You can find it available for purchase on Steam, and even better, there’s a co-op mode for added fun.
