Spotify Unveils Music Video Feature in North America

Spotify Music Videos switch to video

Spotify has recently expanded its music video offerings to subscribers in the US and Canada, providing a Christmas bonus to its North American fans. This change was announced by the company yesterday, with the feature still labeled as “beta” but available to Spotify Premium subscribers in the region.

While the selection is currently limited due to the beta status, subscribers can enjoy music videos from artists like Ariana Grande, Olivia Dean, BABYMONSTER, Addison Rae, Tyler Childers, Natanael Cano, and Carín León.

This expansion allows millions of listeners to access a catalog of official music videos, including studio versions, live performances, and covers. Although the initial video catalog is limited during the beta phase, availability is expected to grow rapidly in the coming months.

The introduction of music videos to North American subscribers comes nearly two years after Spotify initially introduced the feature. The rollout began in a few countries and gradually expanded, with the addition of 85 more countries in October 2024, including Mexico. This left the US and Canada eagerly awaiting access to music videos on Spotify.

Despite the delay, the expansion of music videos to North American subscribers was inevitable. The addition of video support for Apple TV users in October and the upcoming availability of music videos for all Spotify subscribers in the US and Canada by the end of the month demonstrate Spotify’s commitment to providing a diverse range of content.

Subscribers will soon be able to enjoy music videos by selecting “Switch to video” while playing a supported track. Additionally, they can explore related music videos, search for videos by genre and era, and discover a variety of video playlists within the app.
