Steve Jobs Legacy Honored on Commemorative $1 Coin

The US Mint Unveils Commemorative Steve Jobs $1 Coin Design
The US Mint has recently announced the design of a special commemorative $1 coin dedicated to the memory of the late Steve Jobs, co-founder, and former CEO of Apple Inc.
Design and Features
The coin showcases a youthful depiction of Jobs seated in a cross-legged position against a backdrop of California’s scenic rolling hills. Notably, he is depicted wearing his signature turtleneck. The design also includes the inspirational quote “Make something wonderful,” which has been attributed to Jobs and reflects his enduring legacy and vision.
Availability and Pricing
Interested individuals can purchase the commemorative coin for $13.25 from the US Mint website. However, the coin will not be available for purchase until the year 2026.
Significance and Project Background
The Steve Jobs coin is part of a larger initiative launched in 2018 by the US Mint to honor American innovation. This initiative allows each state to nominate a significant figure or symbol for commemoration. In 2026, Wisconsin has chosen to honor the Cray-1 supercomputer from the 1970s.
Recognition and Accolades
Upon nominating Steve Jobs for this prestigious recognition in February, California Governor Gavin Newsom praised Jobs for embodying the spirit of innovation that defines California’s ethos.
