Struggling Google Pixel devices unable to pinpoint UWB trackers

Google has recently introduced support for the ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless protocol through the Pixel 6 Pro in 2021. If you’ve been encountering difficulties in getting your Pixel phone to accurately locate Android-compatible trackers that support UWB, it may be due to the feature being exclusively enabled on the Pro models of Pixel 8 and newer, as confirmed by Google to Android Authority.

The reason behind UWB precise tracking not being activated on older models like the Pixel 6 Pro or Pixel 7 Pro, despite having the necessary hardware, remains unexplained by Google. The Verge has reached out to Google for clarification, and this article will be updated accordingly. Google’s website support page indicates that UWB precise finding is limited to select Android phones, including the Plus and Ultra variants of the Samsung Galaxy S21 series and newer, as well as certain Motorola Edge and Razr models.
