Zurich-based Flexion Raises €43 Million in Series A Funding for Robotics Intelligence Platform

Flexion, a robotics intelligence startup based in Zurich, has secured €43 million ($50 million) in Series A funding. The company is focused on developing a reinforcement learning platform for humanoid robots.

The funding round was led by DST Global Partners, with participation from NVentures, redalpine, Prosus Ventures, and Moonfire. This significant investment follows a Seed round of €6.3 million ($7.35 million) that Flexion secured just a few months prior.

The Flexion team expressed their ambitious mission to power the intelligence stack for humanoid robots, enabling them to work alongside humans independently. They emphasized their focus on building the brain of robots, rather than the physical body.

Across Europe, there has been a notable increase in capital flowing into robotics and autonomous systems. Companies like NEURA Robotics, Unchained Robotics, and sensmore have also raised substantial funding for their innovative technologies.

Flexion, founded in 2024, aims to create the intelligence layer for robotics, emphasizing adaptive autonomy for humanoid robots to function effectively in dynamic real-world environments. The founding team comprises experts in reinforcement learning, control systems, mechatronics, and perception from prestigious institutions and leading tech companies.

The company’s platform integrates natural language task comprehension, synthetic vision-language-action training, and transformer-based full-body control to enable robots to operate with minimal human intervention.

The newly raised capital will support the expansion of Flexion’s R&D operations in Zurich, enhance its computing and robotic infrastructure, establish a presence in the United States, and drive the commercial rollout of its autonomy stack. The company is already collaborating with major OEM partners to deepen and globalize its commercial relationships.

Flexion’s Innovative Technology Stack

Flexion’s technology stack comprises three layers:

  1. A Command Layer utilizing large language models for task breakdown and contextual grounding
  2. A Motion Layer trained on synthetic data with real-world exceptions
  3. A Control Layer enabling rapid behavior synthesis from a modular skill library

These components empower Flexion-powered robots to learn and adapt without requiring constant human input or rigid automation logic.
