Revolutionizing Newsrooms with AI: Symbolic.ai Signs Major Deal with News Corp

In recent years, newsrooms have dabbled in the realm of artificial intelligence, albeit mainly as experimental ventures. However, Symbolic.ai, a relatively obscure startup, aims to transform this landscape. The company has recently inked a significant partnership with News Corp, the media powerhouse under the ownership of Rupert Murdoch.

News Corp, known for its prominent entities such as MarketWatch, the New York Post, and The Wall Street Journal, is poised to implement Symbolic’s AI platform within its financial news hub, Dow Jones Newswires.

Founded by former eBay CEO Devin Wenig and Ars Technica co-founder Jon Stokes, Symbolic.ai touts its AI platform as a tool that can enhance the creation of high-quality journalism and content. The platform has demonstrated remarkable productivity gains, with complex research tasks seeing efficiency boosts of up to 90%. Its capabilities span various editorial functions, including newsletter development, audio transcription, fact-checking, headline optimization, SEO guidance, and more.

News Corp has exhibited a proactive stance towards integrating AI into its media workflow. In a notable move in 2024, the company entered a multi-year collaboration with OpenAI, licensing its content to the AI entity. Last November, News Corp hinted at potential expansions by considering licensing its content to other AI companies.
