The Trump Administration Seeks Donations from Tech Companies for White House Ballroom Fund

According to documents released by Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s office, the Trump administration reached out to Microsoft for a contribution towards funding the White House’s $300 million ballroom project.

Microsoft was provided with information about the Trust for the National Mall’s management of donations for the project and was invited to a dinner for project supporters. The company attended the event, as stated by Christian.

Amazon’s vice president of public policy, Brian Huseman, revealed in a letter that the e-commerce giant had been in communication with the fundraising group involved in the project since August 2025. However, no agreements or reviews of construction plans were made in relation to the donation.

Comcast pledged an unrestricted donation to the Trust for the National Mall, with no specific limitations on the use of the funds. The company emphasized that the donation was made without any expectations of receiving anything in return.

Letters from other companies like Meta, Nvidia, and Apple did not provide detailed information about their donation processes. Apple’s government affairs head, Tim Powderly, assured that the donation was conducted ethically, honestly, and in compliance with the law.

Disclosure: Comcast is an investor in Vox Media, The Verge‘s parent company.
