Find out if you can run a Marathon with the extraction shooter's system requirements

With the latest announcements from Marathon’s upcoming release, the excitement continues to build. The newly revealed PC system requirements, found on the Bungie FPS Steam page, cater to a wide range of hardware, making it accessible to players with older or budget-friendly rigs. Surprisingly, one key detail missing from the requirements is storage space.

Considering the previous technical test only required a 15GB download, it’s safe to assume that Marathon won’t be a heavy SSD user. The minimum GPU specifications, such as the 4GB Radeon RX 5500 XT, indicate that the game may not be packed with high-resolution textures. The full specs include:

Marathon Minimum PC Specs

  • Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit (latest Service Pack)
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-6600 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600
  • RAM: 8GB
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4GB) / AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT (4GB) / Intel Arc A580 (8GB, with ReBAR on)
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection

Marathon Recommended PC Specs

  • Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit (latest Service Pack)
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-10400 / AMD Ryzen 5 3500
  • RAM: 16GB
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 2060 (6GB) / AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT (8GB) / Intel Arc A770 (16GB, with ReBAR on)
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection

It’s worth noting that the specifications do not include fictional processors. Bungie’s mention of the need for Resizable BAR on Intel GPUs highlights a unique aspect of these budget-friendly cards. The game’s modest requirements suggest that players with powerful PCs can expect maximum framerates during gameplay.

While the GTX 1050 Ti in the minimum specs may indicate compatibility with handheld hardware like the Steam Deck, the use of BattlEye anti-cheat software poses a potential hurdle. The current incompatibility with Bungie’s Destiny 2 on SteamOS raises questions about Marathon’s compatibility. The final verdict will be revealed on March 5th.
