The Return of the Audi RS6 Sedan: A 15-Year Gap Comes to an End

After a hiatus of 15 years, Audi is set to bring back the iconic RS6 sedan with a new generation model currently in development. This upcoming RS6 sedan will mark the return of the sedan variant since the C7 model back in 2011.

Recently, spy shots of a test mule of the new RS6 sedan surfaced, hinting at Audi’s intentions to compete with the likes of the BMW M5 and Mercedes-AMG E63 in the high-performance sedan segment.

The upcoming Audi RS6 will be built on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture. The sedan’s design will embody a sporty look with prominent features such as large air vents, dual exhausts, wide fenders housing signature RS wheels, and upgraded brakes with massive rotors on all corners.

Under the hood, the new RS6 is rumored to house a plug-in hybrid V6 engine, with speculation also hinting at a twin-turbo V8 plug-in hybrid configuration. The previous RS6 sedan was powered by a robust 5.0-liter twin-turbo V10 engine generating 571 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque.

Aside from the sedan variant, the new RS6 will also be offered in an Avant (station wagon) body style upon its anticipated release next year.
