The Birth of a New Ninja: How Phil Spencer United Team Ninja and PlatinumGames for Ninja Gaiden 4
The Exciting Announcement of Ninja Gaiden 4 and Collaboration with PlatinumGames
During the recent Xbox Developer Direct, one of the standout moments was the reveal of Ninja Gaiden 4, which took fans by surprise. This announcement not only brought back the original series developer, Team Ninja, but also introduced a collaboration with the renowned spectacle fighter experts at PlatinumGames. To add to the excitement, Xbox also dropped a modern remaster of Ninja Gaiden 2.
The process of bringing together these two legendary teams from different corners of the action game genre was no easy feat. It was Xbox head, Phil Spencer, who played a crucial role in making this collaboration a reality.
In a recent interview with Game Watch, Tea Ninja producer Fumihiko Yasuda revealed that the studio had been brainstorming ways to revive Ninja Gaiden and create a new installment in the series. However, they were struggling to finalize the details of their plan.
It was during a meeting with Phil Spencer that the pieces started falling into place. Spencer proposed the idea of bringing together Team Ninja, Koei Tecmo, and PlatinumGames for the next Ninja Gaiden game, setting the stage for an exciting collaboration.
Prior to Spencer’s intervention, Koei Tecmo president Hisashi Koinuma and PlatinumGames president Atsushi Inaba had briefly considered the possibility of working together. However, it was Spencer who ultimately facilitated the collaboration between the three entities.
Yasuda mentioned, “We have experience in developing action games, but when it came to reviving Ninja Gaiden after a decade, we wanted to collaborate with PlatinumGames, known for their exceptional action titles like Bayonetta and NieR: Automata.” This collaboration marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the franchise.
PlatinumGames has a track record of delivering outstanding titles based on existing franchises, such as Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and NieR: Automata. With their involvement in Ninja Gaiden 4, there is high anticipation for the game to become a standout action title.
Fans can look forward to the release of Ninja Gaiden 4 this fall, available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
