Exciting Times Ahead for BMW Electric Vehicles in the U.S.

In the eagerly awaited summer of 2027, BMW enthusiasts in the United States can finally get their hands on the futuristic iX3 (“NA5”) electric crossover. But the excitement doesn’t end there. BMW USA has already teased the arrival of the i3 sedan (“NA0”) later that year, with a world premiere scheduled for the upcoming months.

While exact pricing details are still under wraps, industry experts predict that the iX3 50 xDrive will have a starting price of around $60,000 in the U.S. Typically, sedans are priced slightly lower than crossovers, so the base i3 could potentially start in the low $50,000 range, possibly even dipping below $50,000.

BMW USA is already generating buzz around the “ZA0,” hinting at an electrifying future with the electric M3. However, enthusiasts may have to wait a bit longer as reports suggest that the high-performance electric sedan is set to enter production in March 2027, with availability in certain regions like Europe.

Production of the standard i3 is set to kick off at BMW’s Munich plant in July 2026, with U.S.-specific models hitting the market in November. Initial offerings may include the 50 xDrive and 40 xDrive variants, with the high-performance i3 M60 xDrive expected to join the lineup in March 2027.

BMW’s ambitious plans include launching approximately 40 new or updated models by the end of 2027 as part of the revived Neue Klasse series. Alongside the i3 and iX3, a new 3 Series (“G50”) is also on the horizon, along with other exciting releases like the facelifted 7 Series (“G70”), next-generation X5 (“G65”), and the debut of the iX4 in 2026.

U.S. customers can look forward to the return of ALPINA’s 7 Series, with the luxurious “G70” variant expected to debut based on the facelifted sedan design. This model, possibly carrying a separate codename (“G72”), might offer both electric and gas engine options for discerning buyers.
