The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S26 is on the horizon, and there’s exciting news suggesting that it might inherit one of the standout features from Google Pixel devices.

Not only are the S26 models expected to match the Pixel 10 series with Qi2 magnetic wireless charging, but they could also introduce Scam Detection, a feature previously exclusive to Google’s own smartphones.

The discovery by Android Authority hints at the end of this exclusivity as references to Galaxy S26 models appear in the Phone by Google app’s code, specifically the S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra models.

These models are identified as SM-S942, SM-S947, and SM-S948, respectively, with mentions of ‘sharpie,’ the codename for Scam Detection.

Scam Detection leverages Google Nano AI for on-device processing to identify and alert users about potential scam calls, reducing the risk of falling victim to phishing attempts. It also extends its protection to text messages and certain chat applications.

The enhanced version of Scam Detection is presently exclusive to Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 models, with older devices like the Pixel 6 utilizing a different machine learning model.

If the Galaxy S26 series incorporates this feature, it could eliminate one compelling reason to opt for a Pixel phone. However, its implementation is not guaranteed.

Given that Samsung devices currently do not utilize the Google Phone app, users may need to take additional steps to install and enable the requisite permissions, or Samsung might integrate it into One UI 8.5, making it a built-in functionality.

The unveiling of the Galaxy S26 range is anticipated on 25th February, where confirmation of the inclusion of Scam Detection may finally be revealed.
