Zelda: Breath of the Wild's Nintendo Switch 2 edition will make you fork out for DLC separately, but hey, it's not like you'll already have spent a lot on other Switch 2 stuff

Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and DLC Confusion

Ever since Nintendo unveiled its latest console, the Switch 2, there has been a lot of buzz surrounding the pricing of not only the console itself but also games like Mario Kart World and the Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour.

Some fans have even resorted to spamming ‘DROP THE PRICE’ during Treehouse livestream chats, while Reggie Fils-Aimé has subtly hinted at the Welcome Tour not being free. And let’s not forget the fact that if you opt for the Switch 2 edition of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you’ll have to purchase the DLC/expansion pass separately.

Nintendo has officially confirmed to IGN that “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition does not include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass DLC. That DLC is available as a separate purchase.”

What does this mean for players? Well, if you already own the game on the original Switch along with all its DLC and decide to purchase the $10 “upgrade pack” for the Switch 2 edition, you won’t need to buy the DLC again.

However, for those who do not own the DLC and buy the Switch 2 edition, they will end up paying a total of $90 for the game and DLC combined, as the expansion pass costs $20.

While this decision may not seem egregious on its own, especially for a game released in 2017, it does add to the growing dissatisfaction among fans with Nintendo’s recent pricing strategies.
