The Mysteries of God’s Disappearance: A Surreal Conversation at Burden Street Station

Shapeshift while chatting to surreal, conversational mortals to figure out where God went in Burden Street Station

Crafting a compelling pitch for a game in just a single sentence is no easy feat. Should you focus on the genre, specific gameplay mechanics, or an intriguing story element? There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this dilemma. However, I can share a sentence that quickly captured my interest in a game called Burden Street Station: “A surreal, narrative adventure game where you shapeshift during conversations to uncover how God went missing.”

This one-liner packs a punch! The premise of God’s disappearance and the player’s role in unraveling this mystery speaks volumes in a concise manner. It hints at the game’s genre – a narrative adventure – and introduces a unique gameplay mechanic: shapeshifting. Personally, this sentence alone piques my curiosity, but let’s delve deeper into what the game has to offer.

In the realm of Burden Street Station, the moments from mortals’ lives are transformed into sentient books, which are then sold to Gods for entertainment. However, this process comes to a halt, and the God vanishes. You, accompanied by one of these sentient books, must engage with the inhabitants of this world to unravel the mystery behind God’s disappearance.

The game draws inspiration from classics like Myst and ’90s PC adventure games, as well as more modern series like ENA. Mechanically, players can alter different parts of their character’s body during conversations with mortals to unlock various dialogue options, including witty and sarcastic responses reminiscent of ’90s gaming dialogues.
