The Potential Impact of the Motorola Razr Fold’s Lackluster Launch
It was a long-awaited moment at Lenovo’s Tech World conference at CES 2026 when Motorola finally unveiled its first book-style foldable phone, the Motorola Razr Fold, to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The event took place at the impressive Sphere venue.
The launch of the Motorola Razr Fold was accompanied by the introduction of a new Signature flagship phone and other products, although details were limited. The device features dual 120Hz OLED displays, with a 6.56-inch cover screen that opens up to an 8.09-inch internal panel, both supporting Motorola’s Pen Ultra stylus. The phone also boasts a five-camera setup, including three 50Mp rear sensors and comes in Pantone’s ‘Blackened Blue’ and ‘Lily White’ finishes.
Despite the initial reveal, many key specifications of the Razr Fold remain unknown, including the extent of software support, battery size, charging speed, IP rating for water and dust resistance, and the processor it will use. The device will run on Android 16 with enhancements for multitasking and adaptive interfaces.
The pricing of the Motorola Razr Fold will be a crucial factor in its success, with leaker Evan Blass suggesting a starting price of $1500 in the US, making it more affordable than its competitors. If priced competitively, the Razr Fold could potentially drive other manufacturers to lower prices on their foldable devices.
The release of the Motorola Razr Fold is scheduled for the summer of 2026, with more details expected to be revealed at MWC 2026 in Barcelona in March. Overall, the Razr Fold has the potential to shake up the foldable phone market and make these devices more accessible to a wider audience.
