This growth outpaced electric vehicle sales, which increased by 13.1% to 103,269 units, but fell short of the remarkable 130.9% growth in plug-in hybrid sales, totaling 53,484 units.

New players like Chery and KGM entered the hybrid market in 2025, while established brands such as Hyundai and MG expanded their hybrid offerings, contributing to the overall increase in hybrid sales.

The Toyota RAV4 emerged as Australia’s best-selling hybrid once again in 2025, also ranking as the second-best selling model overall. Toyota not only dominated the hybrid market with the top three models but also had six of the top 10 best-selling hybrids in the country.

Hyundai’s Tucson and Kona SUVs made it to the top five hybrid models list, with Toyota and Hyundai models occupying most positions in the top 10.
