Toyota Issues Recall for Twin-Turbo 3.4-Liter V-6 Engine

Toyota, known for being the world’s most reliable car manufacturer, is facing a setback as they have recently announced a recall for one of their latest engines. The affected engine is a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V-6 primarily installed in non-hybrid Toyota Tundras and Lexuses.

The recall was initiated due to debris found in the engine that was accumulated during the manufacturing process. This issue has affected over 127,000 engine-powered Toyota Tundra models produced between 2022 and 2024. Similarly, the Lexus LX models of the same model year as the Tundra have also been impacted, with over 127,000 vehicles affected. Additionally, the 2024 Lexus GX has not been spared from the recall either.

According to Toyota, the presence of debris in the engine, originating from the machining process, was not adequately cleared during the engine’s production. This oversight could result in various issues such as engine knock, power loss, rough engine operation, or even failure to start.

Toyota has assured its customers that they are actively working on a resolution to address the problem and plan to notify affected individuals as early as 2026.

Owners of the affected vehicles can find more information about the recall by visiting the NHTSA website at nhtsa.com/recalls. They can also check the status of their vehicle by entering the VIN number. Alternatively, they can contact Toyota’s customer support team at 1-800-331-4331. Lexus owners can seek assistance by calling 1-800-255-3987.
