Apple released multiple software updates on the same day, including iOS 26.4, iPadOS, macOS, and tvOS 26.4 for the Apple TV. While iPhone updates usually steal the spotlight, the tvOS update introduced a new feature called “Genius Browse” to the Apple TV app, offering intelligent recommendations for TV shows and movies.

Genius Browse, inspired by a feature from iTunes and Apple Music, suggests content based on categories like “Thrilling Blockbusters” and “Fun for the Whole Family.” It pulls recommendations from Apple TV, the iTunes Store, and linked streaming services like Amazon Prime and HBO Max. Unfortunately, Netflix remains absent from the lineup.

The feature can be found on the TV app Home Screen, offering personalized suggestions and dynamic categories. Users can filter results, explore different genres, and view recommendations based on other user profiles. The browsing experience allows for endless exploration, with recommendations expanding based on selected titles and key actors.

In addition to Genius Browse, tvOS 26.4 introduces a new HDMI Continuous Audio Connection option to address popping issues with audio formats. The update also removes the standalone iTunes Movies and iTunes TV Shows apps, which have been inactive for over two years. Users with remaining Wish Lists or Favorites in these apps will receive a PDF via email.

Overall, the tvOS 26.4 update enhances the Apple TV experience with innovative features and improvements, catering to the entertainment needs of users.
