Ukrainian Man Pleads Guilty to Operating OnlyFake, an AI-Powered Fake ID Website

An individual from Ukraine has confessed to managing OnlyFake, a website powered by artificial intelligence that produced and sold over 10,000 fake identification photos to clients worldwide.

Yurii Nazarenko, 27 years old and known by aliases such as “John Wick,” “Tor Ford,” and “Uriel Septimberus,” acknowledged that his subscription-based platform, OnlyFake, utilized AI to create authentic-looking counterfeit passports, driver’s licenses, and Social Security cards.

“Government-issued IDs are crucial in combating various crimes, including terrorism and money laundering,” stated U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton. “The production of fake IDs by OnlyFake poses a significant risk to society and must be halted.”

The indictment revealed that Nazarenko’s platform allowed customers to generate fake digital versions of U.S. driver’s licenses for all states, U.S. passports, passport cards, and identification documents for approximately 56 other countries.

Customers had the option to customize the fake digital documents with personal information, select randomized details, and choose between a scan or tabletop photograph appearance for the final product.

Prosecutors in New York stated that the primary purpose of these fake digital documents was to bypass Know Your Customer (KYC) verification requirements at financial institutions and cryptocurrency exchanges, which are measures mandated under the Patriot Act to prevent money laundering.

Undercover FBI agents made several purchases from the OnlyFake website, acquiring fake IDs for New York state, U.S. passports, and a Social Security card between May and June 2024.

OnlyFake solely accepted cryptocurrency payments and offered discounted bulk packages containing up to 1,000 fake documents. Nazarenko attempted to obfuscate his transactions by routing cryptocurrency payments through multiple wallets and deleting emails following media coverage in February 2024.

“Yurii Nazarenko developed a platform that produced over 10,000 fake IDs, generating substantial revenue from illicit sales,” remarked FBI Assistant Director James C. Barnacle, Jr. “This platform provided clients with opportunities to engage in various criminal activities, such as money laundering.”

Nazarenko was extradited from Romania in September 2025 and has agreed to forfeit $1.2 million. He faces a maximum prison sentence of 15 years and is set for sentencing on June 26, 2026.
