Ultimate Guide to Watching NFL in the UK: Sky Sports, NFL Game Pass & Free on 5

If you’re a fan of NFL (American Football) in the UK, you’re in luck for the 2025 season as the options for watching and streaming are better than ever before.
Channel 5 has expanded its coverage, offering free Sunday games, while Sky Sports has increased its NFL offerings with almost 50% more games.
Additionally, options like the official NFL Game Pass on DAZN, Amazon Prime Video, and YouTube add-ons provide a variety of choices based on your preferences and devices.
While it may be simpler than watching in the USA, selecting a streaming service in the UK still requires consideration of different features and prices.

Live stream on NFL Game Pass with DAZN
NFL Game Pass is the official online streaming service for the sport in the UK, similar to Netflix but for American football. It allows you to watch games live or on demand throughout the season and is accessible on the web or through various devices using the app.
Game Pass is now available on DAZN after moving a couple of seasons ago (no DAZN plan required). DAZN is a global sports streaming service available in most countries, except the USA and China, making it more than just a UK service.
For the 2025 season, Game Pass will include US broadcast commentary and halftime analysis. Additionally, NFL shows like Hard Knocks and A Football Life are part of the service, with games available for download and offline viewing.
DAZN is compatible with a range of devices, including Android, iOS, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Google Chromecast, and gaming consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
The free plan has been replaced with a Season Pro Ultimate option, a new premium subscription that offers exclusive features such as Multiview, streaming on 5 devices in 2 locations, HDR & Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound, alternative feeds like ManningCast, Prime Vision, and Slimetime, a one-time code for NFL Shop, and an exclusive ballot for international NFL tickets.
You can choose to pay for Season Pro and Season Pro Ultimate annually, monthly, or weekly, with the following prices:
- Weekly Pro – £15.99 per week
- Weekly Pro Ultimate – £17.99 per week
- Season Pro – £17.99 per month
- Season Pro Ultimate – £19.99 per month
- Season Pro annual – £169.99
- Season Pro Ultimate annual – £189.99
Regardless of the plan you choose, you will have access to regular season and postseason games, the Super Bowl, live RedZone, and other content like NFL Draft rounds, highlights, full game replays, and original NFL programs.
What are NFL Blackout games?
One limitation of Game Pass is that not every game is available live due to broadcasting blackout rules. Sky Sports has priority for certain games, so those games can only be watched on Game Pass 24 hours later.
DAZN states that this blackout rule applies to two Sunday games each week (one at 6pm and one at 9pm kickoff). However, certain games are exempt from blackout, including all Monday, Thursday, and Sunday night games, U.S. Thanksgiving Day games, all playoff games, Super Bowl LIX, and any postseason games.
While blackouts are a downside, Game Pass can be used abroad without the need for a VPN, as long as you’re not in the US or China.
How to watch NFL for free (Channel 5)
If the cost of Game Pass or other options is too high, there’s good news for UK NFL fans as Channel 5 has expanded its coverage of the sport.
Previously limited to Monday nights, Channel 5 now offers free Sunday games as well. The coverage includes 6pm and 9pm kickoffs, with the later game airing on Channel 5 Action, which is digital-only.
Channel 5’s new NFL coverage will be hosted by Dermot O’Leary, Sam Quek, and Osi Umenyiora, with a unique new format called ‘NFL: Big Game Night’ where teams of friends and family compete in the studio during breaks in play.
During the 2025 season, Channel 5 will also broadcast international NFL London and Dublin games, Thanksgiving Day specials, three playoff games, and Super Bowl 2026, all free-to-air.
NFL Game Pass on Amazon Prime Video and YouTube
New this year is the option to watch Game Pass on Amazon Prime Video (200+ games) or YouTube (250+ games) as an add-on channel subscription.
On YouTube, the subscription costs £31.99 per month or £169.99 for the season, with the caveat that the DAZN app cannot be used.
Game Pass on Amazon Prime Video is available in multiple countries, including the UK, at a monthly price of £31.99.
It’s recommended to opt for the full season option on YouTube for better value.

Watch NFL on Sky Sports
Sky Sports is the primary broadcaster for NFL on TV in the UK, offering a dedicated channel (Sky 407 / Virgin Media 507) for games.
A new three-year deal has expanded Sky’s NFL coverage, providing almost 50% more games. Sky has first pick for games at 6pm and 9pm kickoffs over Channel 5, with additional games on channels like Sky Sports+ and Mix.
Some weeks will feature three games concurrently at the 9pm slot, and Sky will broadcast all NFL International games in London and Europe.
Sky Sports will continue to air regular features like Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night games, Monday Night Football, live NFL RedZone, Thanksgiving games, playoffs, Pro Bowl, Super Bowl, Fantasy Live, NFL Network content, and more.
Sky customers with Sky Sports can watch games live on the NFL channel or via Sky Go. For non-satellite customers, Now (formerly Now TV) offers a Now Sports membership with various plans starting at £14.99 for a Day Membership and £34.99 for a Month Membership.
For Full HD quality and Dolby 5.1 surround sound, Now Boost (£6 per month) is required, while Ultra Boost (£9 per month) enables 4K Ultra HD quality and Dolby Atmos sound.

Sky Sports
Watching NFL games in the US without cable can be challenging due to various channels like Fox Sports, NBC, CBS, ESPN, ABC, and NFL Network broadcasting games.
However, options like NFL+ offer live local and primetime games, regular, postseason, and Super Bowl games on mobile devices with the premium subscription including Red Zone. The service starts at $6.99 per month with a 7-day free trial.
There are additional options like SlingTV, YouTube TV, Hulu+ Live TV, and Peacock via NBCUniversal for watching NFL games in the US. Digital antennas can also be used to watch games for free on Sundays on CBS, Fox, NBC, and CBS.
Watch NFL abroad with a VPN
If you’re outside the UK and want to watch Sky Go or Channel 5, using a VPN like NordVPN can help mask your IP address to access geo-restricted content.
By selecting a UK server, you can bypass location restrictions and watch UK services from abroad. The same method can be used to access US services, but watching NFL from the UK is usually easier and more cost-effective.
