KT Racing has released the Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown Season 6 update, bringing a new game mode, a bunch of new cars and fixing over 350 bugs and issues for the open world racer. They’ve also previewed what’s coming in Season 7 & 8 later this year.

While KT Racing is currently embroiled in Nacon’s insolvency saga – Kylotonn themselves have filed for insolvency this week – work has been able to continue at the studio while they work through the judicial process. This means more work on TDU Solar Crown, and presumably on the WRC license that the studio reclaimed last year.

Season 6 of TDU Solar Crown brings the new Detective missions that were voted on by the community last year. This sees you needing to tail a particular vehicle, trying to be close enough to intercept comms, but wary of drawing their suspicions. Once you reach a destination, you’ll than have to pap a photo of them as a final mission capper. Each mission has a little story that you’ll unravel through the wiretapping, and there are 15 of these missions to start with, with another 15 set to be added through a mid-season update.

Beyond that there’s three new cars, and three new special editions, quality of life improvements for Casino NPCs to now be voiced and more outfit save slots and GPS checkpoints, and there’s a new 50-tier Solar Pass.

More broadly, the continuing work to improve the base game is ongoing. Season 5 saw Hong Kong’s southern district reworked, and Season 6 is seeing a similar effort put into the northern districts, bringing more variety to the buildings, creating more light channels for the sun, and more.

Looking ahead to Season 7, KT Racing is working on live enhancements to improve the Solar Pass, Live Events and Daily Challenges, will introduce an official racing centre. Season 8 is what classic TDU players will be really keen to see, with houses, garages, customisation and furniture all set to debut.
