Unlock Early Access to Google Gemini for Home in the US with These Simple Steps
Google Rolls Out Gemini for Home Early Access to US Smart Home Users
Google smart home users in the US can now experience the new Gemini for Home assistant ahead of its official release. This latest addition to Google’s smart home ecosystem is set to replace the current Google Assistant on Nest devices, representing a significant upgrade in functionality. Powered by the Gemini LLM, Gemini for Home is capable of handling more complex tasks and engaging users in a more conversational manner.
To gain early access to Gemini for Home, interested users must submit a request through their Google Groups settings. By selecting “Global Settings” and ensuring the option “Add me to their groups” is enabled, users can join the early access group upon approval. Subsequently, users should navigate to the Google Home app, click on their profile picture, access “Home settings,” and locate the “early access” option to request entry to the Gemini for Home program.
Upon successful enrollment in the early access program, Gemini for Home will replace Google Assistant on all compatible devices. It’s important to note that reverting to Google Assistant will not be possible after the switch. Additionally, certain features such as Gemini Live and the ability to search camera history with Gemini for Home require a paid Google Home Premium subscription.
