Samsung Display Unveils Crease-Free Foldable OLED Panel at CES

During CES, Samsung Display wowed attendees with a groundbreaking new foldable OLED panel that eliminates the visible crease that plagues current foldable phones in the market. This innovative technology could potentially be integrated into the next generation of Samsung Galaxy foldable devices and even the highly anticipated folding iPhone, considering Samsung Display’s longstanding relationship as a key supplier for Apple.

Although the display unit showcasing the new panel was mysteriously absent when The Verge team visited Samsung Display’s CES booth, it was initially positioned next to a Galaxy Z Fold 7 foldable for direct comparison. SamMobile was able to witness the demonstration before the panel was removed and reported that the new technology boasts a flawlessly smooth surface without any visible crease, unlike the Z Fold 7.

Rosie Kim, a spokesperson for Samsung Display from Omnicom PR, confirmed that the foldable panel showcased at CES was a research and development concept with no concrete timeline for commercial release. The company did not provide an explanation for the sudden removal of the concept panel from the exhibit.

Rumors suggest that Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone will also feature a crease-free display, hinting at a potential collaboration with Samsung Display for future iterations of the innovative panel technology. Samsung may integrate variations of the panel into the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Wide Fold models, with the latter rumored to be similar in size to Apple’s foldable device.
