Volvo EX30 EV: Fix imminent for fire risk recall

Replacement Parts for Volvo EX30 Recall Set to Arrive in Australia

Volvo has confirmed that replacement parts for a significant Volvo EX30 recall are scheduled to arrive in Australia next month. The brand has stated that the parts, which are replacement battery modules for the small electric SUV, are estimated to reach Australia by mid-May.

Upon the arrival of the replacement parts, Volvo Car Australia will personally notify each affected owner of the necessary steps to be taken to address the recall.

The recall is in response to a manufacturing issue with the cell modules installed in the high voltage battery of the Volvo EX30. This issue could potentially cause the battery to overheat at high charge levels, posing a risk of vehicle fire.

Volvo Car Australia previously recalled 2815 EX30 vehicles in January 2026, with a superseding recall in March 2026 increasing the number of affected vehicles to 3344. Since the launch of the model, Volvo Car Australia has delivered 3560 EX30s up to February 2026.

Globally, over 40,000 EX30 vehicles have been recalled due to this battery issue.

As a temporary precautionary measure, Volvo has advised EX30 owners to keep their vehicle’s battery charge level below 70 percent until the replacement parts are installed.

For any further inquiries regarding the recall, owners are encouraged to contact Volvo Car Australia Customer Care at 1300 787 802.

The batteries used in the EX30 are supplied by Shandong Geely Sunwoda Power Battery Co, a joint venture supported by Volvo’s parent company Geely.

Volvo EX30 is one of several models that have been subject to recalls in Australia due to potential battery-related fire hazards. Other brands that have issued similar recalls include Audi, Cupra, Hyundai, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, and Porsche.

The EX30, introduced to the Australian market in 2024, is Volvo’s smallest SUV and shares its Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform with other models within the Geely group, such as the Smart #1, Smart #3, and Zeekr X.
