Vought Ascending: The Boys Prequel – Everything You Need to Know

Following the conclusion of Season 2 of Gen V, The Boys fans can look forward to the next spin-off, Vought Rising, which is currently in development. The latest casting updates and sneak peeks from the show have been revealed.

While Gen V introduced a younger generation of superheroes at Godolkin University, Vought Rising will explore the origins of superheroes from an earlier era, predating Homelander and The Seven.

Eric Kripke conceptualized Vought Rising, with Paul Grellong serving as the showrunner. After a period of silence, more details about the series are beginning to emerge.

Release Date for Vought Rising

Although there is no official launch date for Vought Rising yet, production is currently underway.

The anticipated release of The Boys Season 6 is slated for summer 2026, with filming already completed by June 2026. If the production timeline remains consistent and filming wraps up this year, Vought Rising may potentially debut later in 2026.

If filming extends into the following year, a 2027 release date is more probable.

Plot Details of Vought Rising

Vought Rising will serve as a prequel to The Boys, focusing on Soldier Boy portrayed by Jensen Ackles. The narrative will unfold in the 1950s, showcasing the superhero’s glory days.

According to Eric Kripke and Paul Grellong:

We are thrilled to present the next twisted series from The Boys universe. It’s a dark murder mystery delving into the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early adventures of Soldier Boy, and the sinister schemes of a supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then known as Clara Vought. Prepare to be shocked and captivated by this thrilling, blood-soaked saga infused with Compound V.

Soldier Boy was the premier and most formidable Vought superhero. Active during the Cold War era, he led the superhero team Payback. After disappearing following a military mission in Nicaragua, he was rediscovered by Butcher and his team in The Boys Season 3.

Similar to Homelander, he projected an image of the ideal American hero, but in reality, he was aggressive, egotistical, and perilous, leading to his downfall.

Soldier Boy made a brief appearance towards the end of The Boys Season 4, hinting at his return in the final season of the show.

Another key character returning in Vought Rising is the notorious Stormfront, also known as Klara Risinger. In The Boys Season 2, she emerged as a new member of The Seven, garnering a following due to her white supremacist views and social media presence. Initially a rival of Homelander, she later became his partner and ally.

It was later revealed that Stormfront, born in Germany in 1919, was a supporter of the Nazi Party and the wife of scientist Frederick Vought, the inventor of Compound V. Consuming the substance transformed her into the first known superhero.

After World War II, Frederick and Klara relocated to the US, where she operated under the alias Liberty. She crossed paths with Soldier Boy and together they founded a clandestine superhero group known as Herogasm.

Vought Rising promises to delve deeper into Stormfront and Soldier Boy’s histories and relationship.

Cast of Vought Rising

Jensen Ackles, reprising his role as Soldier Boy from The Boys Seasons 3 and 4, will portray the iconic war hero superhero. He is also rumored to star in the highly anticipated Supernatural revival.

Aya Cash, who portrayed Stormfront in The Boys Season 2, will return as the white supremacist superhero.
