Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse – A New Game by Dead Cells Developers

Prepare yourself for the return of Castlevania with a new game co-developed by the creators of the popular roguelike-Metroidvania, Dead Cells. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is the latest installment in the vampire-hunting series, set in medieval Paris. Konami has teased that this game is just the beginning of a wave of new Castlevania content as the franchise celebrates its 40th anniversary.

Unveiled during the recent PlayStation State of Play event, Belmont’s Curse is confirmed to be coming to PC in 2026. The game’s premise is set in 1499 Paris, where monstrous creatures have emerged to wreak havoc. Armed with the legendary holy whip, the Vampire Killer, the successor of Trevor Belmont ventures into the chaos to save the city from destruction.

Speculation suggests that the protagonist may be the daughter of Belmont and mage Sypha Belnades. Equipped with the iconic whip, a sword, and other weapons yet to be revealed, players will navigate through gothic chambers, battling enemies, and uncovering hidden secrets.

Konami has announced that Belmont’s Curse is just the beginning of the revival of the Castlevania series. They have promised a range of new products and a return to the dark and mysterious world of Castlevania for fans to look forward to.

For those unfamiliar with Evil Empire and Motion Twin, the developers involved in this project, a snippet from a Dead Cells review may shed some light on their expertise:

“Every little fracas is a trial of quickness, luck, and body memory, and it feels superb. Blisteringly fast when it needs to be, challenging without being frustrating, and packed with sharp, fatal toys, Dead Cells doesn’t keep you on your toes, it keeps you on your toenails.” – Brendy, RPS

If you’re intrigued by the partnership between Konami and these talented developers, you can already wishlist Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse on Steam.
